I have always been a nutritionist at heart, even though my career path has veered in a different direction (until now that is). A few years ago (2012-2013) I decided it was time to follow my heart and get back to what I love, nutrition! Since that time, I have completed my Masters Degree in Human Nutrition (clinical nutrition), and I'm ready to take on the world! Well, maybe not the world, but I'm definitely ready to take on your complex, chronic health issues and treat them from a holistic perspective by using dietary, lifestyle and supplementation interventions that are targeted to your individual needs.
Jennifer Caryn Brand Nutrition (formerly Alliefitfoodie Nutrition) began as a blog about the Paleo lifestyle and principles. While my beliefs about food, nutrition and health have since evolved, I do still believe that a more traditional lifestyle can help promote optimum health. What does that mean? I believe a diet of whole, real foods, quality sources of protein and fat, that is plentiful in fresh fruits and vegetables, and low in processed foods is the way to go. I do not believe in unnecessary dietary restrictions. If you have moral, religious, or health reasons for avoiding certain foods that is certainly more than ok and we can work together to make sure these things are accounted for in your diet and lifestyle plan. The reason I am against unnecessary restrictions however is because over time, they can lead to nutrient deficiency, which of course is something we don't want. There is no need for restriction in the name of maintaining a diet or lifestyle is what I'm getting at. This is because each of us is unique and there is no one size fits all diet. Our goal is optimum health, and that goal will look different for each and every one of us.
