Not all probiotics are created equal!

While probiotics alone aren't going to solve the problem, the right probiotic is an important piece of your child's skin rash puzzle and can make a BIG difference in their healing journey.

That's why I use spore-based most often in my practice. Some benefits of spore-based probiotics are:

  • They can survive in the acidic pH of the gut Reference

  • They don’t need to be refrigerated Reference

  • They can deliver more good bacteria to the small intestine Reference, reference

  • They don’t contribute to bacterial overgrowth (like bacterial probiotics can) Reference

  • They don't cause histamine issues (like bacterial probiotics can) Reference

  • They lower endotoxemia and inflammation Reference

  • They can suppress H pylori and pathogenic bacteria (including C Diff and E. coli infection) and symptoms associated with them Reference, reference, reference, reference

My Go-To is MegaSporeBiotic, and it's on about 98% of my clients' plans!

MegaSpore is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, does not require refrigeration, and can be taken with or without food.

It's rare that there are contraindications, but vet MegaSpore to make sure it's appropriate for your child before giving it to them orally.

MegaSporeBiotic oral Use

  • Increase the dose slowly, it’s potent. At 2 years of age and up, work up to the full 2 capsules per day dose. Under 2 years of age, work up to 1 capsule daily.

    • Week 1: Take ½ capsule every day

    • Week 2: Take 1 capsule every day (stay here if under 2 years old)

    • Week 3: Take 1 ½ capsules every day

    • Week 4: Take 2 capsules every day

  • For infants, add MegaSpore to breast milk or formula. Moms can also sprinkle a little on the nipple when nursing.

  • You can open capsules and put the contents (flavorless powder) in a smoothie, sprinkle on food, etc. (cool, tepid, room temperature is fine, hot is not).

  • For sensitive people, you can go more slowly (dose every other day, for example).

MegaSporeBiotic Topical Use

It can be used topically to support the skin microbiome. Open a capsule, mix with your favorite moisturizer and apply to the skin. You can leave it on. Spot-check before using it broadly.
