If your kid has eczema or allergies (or both), it’s not uncommon to see elevated IgE levels.
I do see this a lot in the kiddos I work with.
What I often hear when IgE levels are high (and aren’t budging, or are even increasing) is that “It must be hyper IgE syndrome (aka HIES or Job’s syndrome).”
While that might be the case, it’s rare, and most that I hear that do genetic testing for it, it comes out negative.
I’m not surprised! That’s because what I find most often to be the culprit of chronically elevated IgE is… Underlying infection.
In particular, parasites.
If your kid has high IgE that persists, I highly suggest exploring if parasites are a problem for them.
